Anthem Camarillo is part a family of churches helping people find their way back to God. The Anthem family of churches is united around shared mission, vision, values, and submission to the Lordship of King Jesus. In our cities, we are working to obey Jesus in helping people find their way back to God.
The Anthem Weekly
January 24 - 30
Welcome to Anthem, a church community following Jesus in the beautiful city of Camarillo, helping people find their way back to God.
If you have any questions, would like more info, or simply want to connect with someone, take a moment and fill out our Connect Card.
On February 6th we will not be meeting for our regular Sunday Gathering at the Boys & Girls Club. Instead we will be gathering in smaller groups throughout Camarillo and Ventura County as a reminder that the Church is not a building but a people. Use the link below to join a group!
In Case you missed it...
John 15 - The Abiding Life
Each Sunday in January we will be exploring different aspects of the abiding life found in John 15. We will look at the theology of the abiding life, the enemies of the abiding life, practices of abiding life, and the outcomes of an abiding life. Our hope isn’t simply that you would come to each of these Sundays, but that each of us would actually listen to the words of Jesus and put into practice what he says. If you miss a Sunday, use the link below to listen to the teachings.
As a church we are going to challenge each other to memorize John 15:1-17. We know memorizing is not second nature to many so we will keep talking about it, and encouraging one another along the way. But we really do want to invite you to make a decision to try and memorize this passage with us and watch and see how the Lord will use it in your life. One of the best places to start is to write out the passage on 3x5 cards keep them with you and read over them a few times throughout the day.
Each week we will be encouraging the church to engage in some sort of practice that will aid in growing in abiding in Jesus.
Our practices so far create an Abiding Prayer and Media Fast.
This Week: End of day Reflection
Why: Increase our ability to notice God’s presence with us.
The Practice: At the dinner table, brushing teeth, while journaling, or whenever works best for you at the end of the day, spend 1-5 minutes and ask 2 questions:
“When did I sense God’s presence today?”
“When did I feel distant or isolated from God’s presence?”
This can be done with someone or alone.
Goal: The point of this exercise is to gain awareness of the times we are abiding and those times we have our head down and are operating in our own strength. We also get to learn what are the signs and emotions someone may feel to even know when they are abiding. We want to be able to recognize the differences in our day when we are and aren’t abiding.
Tips: A good indicator for knowing when you are abiding is to be looking at the fruits of the spirit. If I am experiencing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc., that is a good indicator that I was conscious of the Spirit. The same for when the opposite happens. Check out Galatians 5 for signs of when we are also working in our own power and not abiding. By seeing the parts of our day that were anxious or full of joy can be a helpful insight.
It's a great time to join a Community Group! Community groups meet together each week for discussion from the Scriptures, prayer, and connection.
You can check out the days and times of our groups below. When your request to join a group you will be reached out to by one of the Community Group Leaders.
We have a need for volunteers in Anthem Kids, First Impressions, Tech Team, and Tear Down. If you are interested in any of these areas please reach out to Alex Greene.
Giving & Generosity
GIVING AT ANTHEM
Giving cheerfully and sacrificially is a part of worship at Anthem. We give generously because God has first been generous to us. We dream of becoming a church marked by radical generosity.
